유망주 전문 사이트인 <베이스볼 아메리카(BA)>를 비롯해 시즌이 시작될 때쯤이 되면 각 메이저리그 사이트에서는 전도유망한 특급 유망주들을 선정해 그들의 이름을 알리기 시작한다.
그 중에서도 최근에는 세이버 매트리션들이 주축이 되어 만든 <베이스볼 프로스펙터스(BP)>의 선수 선정이 관계자와 팬들 사이에서 주목받고 있으며, 얼마 전 2008년의 최고 유망주 100명을 선정해 발표했다. 그 가운데 최고의 유망주 10명을 소개한다.

1. 제이 브루스(Jay Bruce)

3. 에반 롱고리아(Evan Longoria)

4. 조바 쳄벌린(Joba Chamberlain)

5. 클레이튼 커쇼(Clayton Kershaw)

6. 데이빗 프라이스(David Price)

10. 카메론 메이빈(Cameron Maybin)
